The ribbon was cut Thursday to officially open the Blanco County Air Rescue Base.

The facility, located at the Round Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, is a joint effort between Blanco and Travis counties.

Ben Oakley, Blanco County EMS chief, said the new facility is one of a very few nationwide and serves the entire region – including Blanco County, Travis County the rest of the Hill Country and Central Texas.
