Llano County has passed a resolution opposing a major transmission line that Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC and the Lower Colorado River Authority Transmission Services Corporation (LCRA TSC) plan to construct through the heart of Texas. The “Bell County East–Big Hill 765 kV Transmission Line Project” is currently in the environmental and routing study phase of the state licensing process, with assessments underway along a 200-mile corridor spanning 14 counties, including Llano, Mason, and San Saba.

If approved, the line would stretch from Bell County to the Permian Basin in West Texas, covering nearly 71,000 acres. Towers would rise approximately 160 feet tall, with a right-of-way extending 200 feet across the landscape. Construction could begin as early as 2027, with completion anticipated by 2030.

Llano County Soil and Water Conservation Board Chairman Steve Haverlah and Secretary Joe Freeman encouraged the Commissioners Court to sign the resolution opposing the transmission line, highlighting its unprecedented scale.
