The Johnson City boys cross country team and Ollie Doyle of the girls team competed at the UIL State Championship last Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
Ollie Doyle advanced to state as the sole representative of Johnson City’s girls team. Her freshman year culminated with a 31st place finish out of 150 overall competitors in the state meet with a time of 12:47.
The entire Johnson City boys team competed in the state meet after qualifying as a team for the first time in program history. Sutton Greene led the team’s effort with a 51st place time of 18:12, and Osvaldo Flores followed with a 63rd place time of 18:26. The team placed 13th out of 16 teams overall with 358 points, and 152 total athletes ran in the event.
