The City of Blanco sent a letter to the Texas Department of Transportation in October to reiterate its position – that a U.S. Hwy. 281 relief route should not be within the city or its extraterritorial jurisdiction – or end the relief route study.
The Blanco City Council on multiple occasions has asked TxDOT to place a possible relief route outside city limits or its ETJ. The final two proposed relief routes, as referenced by the city’s letter, were presented at a January 2025 workshop held in Blanco. The final two routes selected for study were options three and four. Both options include going through the eastern portions of the city or its ETJ.
TxDOT will hold another community workshop from 4-7 p.m. on Nov. 18 at Blanco High School to present the “recommended relief route option,” according to its website, as well as feedback received from the January workshop.
