Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney has died at the age of 84. His family announced that he passed away on the night of Monday, November 3, 2025, due to complications from pneumonia, along with cardiac and vascular disease.
Cheney served as the 46th Vice President of the United States from 2001 to 2009 under President George W. Bush. Prior to that, he was Secretary of Defense during the Gulf War and held several other key government roles over his decades‑long political career.
His passing prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the political spectrum. Former President George W. Bush called Cheney “a decent, honorable man” and described his death as “a loss to the nation.”
