The Rudy Davalos HSB Sports Club on Monday heard a lot about how “late bloomer” 2002 PGA Champion Rich Beem reached the Pro Tour and how he finished ahead of a late charge by the number one ranked Tiger Wood. Beem’s win by one stroke was a major upset as he was ranked 73rd in the world at the time.
HSB Resort Director of Golf Operations Anthony Holder interviewed his HSB golfing friend Beem and asked him what inspired him to get into golf.
Beem's first response set the tone for the morning, “At a young age I knew that I wanted to be miserable for the rest of my life, so I went into golf.” The audience obviously appreciated his self-deprecating humor.
