Commissioners Extend Blanco Burn Ban to Nov. 25

The Blanco County Commissioners extended the county-wide burn ban to noon on Nov. 25, at their meeting Tuesday.

Blanco County was listed in the 600-700 range in the Keetch-Byram Drought Index for Tuesday, which is the sixth of seven levels on the index. The county’s minimum reported number was 542 and the maximum number was 694, with an average of 619.

“The state went to threat level number three, which is a higher risk level,” said Matt McMain, Blanco County fire marshal. “There’s a lot more rural counties that are starting to get wild land fires. We’re at risk. It’s really dry out there.
