Early voting began Monday in Blanco County for the constitutional amendment election and Blanco ISD’s call for a VATRE.
Voters in Blanco ISD are being asked to ratify a tax rate of $0.8780 per $100 in valuation in the Voter Approved Tax Rate Election. This will increase the tax rate by 2.9294 percent for maintenance and operations and bring in an additional $476,095 for the school district. According to Blanco ISD’s website, the school district will face a deficit of approximately $550,000 if a VATRE is not approved.
Blanco ISD called for a VATRE election in November 2024 and voters rejected that proposal. More than 56 percent of the people who voted did not approve the school’s request. There were a total of 5,271 votes in the election, with 2,967 voting against the proposal and 2,304 voting in favor of it.
