More than two dozen parishioners, friends and neighbors brought their pets—dogs, cats and even one chicken—to the Memorial Garden at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Saturday to receive the annual “blessing of the pets.” Among pets receiving the special blessing by St. Paul’s pastor, Fr. Brad Scheoberle, C.S.P., (right) was “Django,” a giant schnauzer belonging to Jacob Dickey (left.) Jacob is the son of St. Paul’s parishioner and Horseshoe Bay resident Aline Dickey (second from right). The event, which centered around a statue in the garden of St. Francis of Assisi, is an observance of St. Francis’s feast day, Oct. 4. The 12th Century mystic is known for his love of all creatures and the natural environment.
