HSB pilgrims follow journeys of the Apostle Paul
The Church at Horseshoe Bay Journeys of Paul in Greece and Turkey consisted of 36 pilgrims from HSB plus two from Georgia. The pilgrims pictured at the small amphitheater of ancient Philippi held up three copies of the HSB Beacon: Bill and Pam Carrothers, Pastor John and Judy Duncan, Dede Hodge, Cyrilla and Doug Ivey, Karen and Steve Jarrard, Bill and Donna Knox, Joni and Sam Lee, Gerald and Lori Long, Larry and Marie Morgan, Daryl and Terry Nels, Ruth Newman, Carol and Rocky Reese, Mark and Nancy Robertson (from Atlanta), Carol and David Rose, Ed and Leah Santry, Carol and Gig Settegast, Luann Sewell, Harriet Smith, Bill and Joanne Thomas, Beth and Frank Winford, and Johnny and Patricia White.

Twenty-two pilgrims departed from the Church at HSB on Monday, Sept. 29, flying overnight from Aus - tin to Athens, Greece, where they met up with 14 “de- viant" HSB pilgrims who made alternate travel plans to Athens.

Two additional pilgrims from Atlanta joined the mer ry band completing the party of 38 pilgrims prepared to pay the price of early morn- ings, long days of travel, and short nights of sleep to visit the ancient ruins of cities evangelized by the Apostle Paul as reported in the New Testament scriptures.

The 38 pilgrims were enlightened daily by HSB Senior Pastor John Duncan’s knowledgeable background from years of study in Cambridge. Duncan explained the Apostle Paul's unique life preparation in the Greek language and culture, his Jewish heritage and rabbinic training, and unlikely Roman citizenship. Former Pastor Johnny White supplemented with narrative from Doctor Luke who authored the Book of Acts about the travels of the Apostle Paul to the an - cient cities of Greece and Turkey.
