Following the retirement in 2024 of longtime Mason County Food Pantry (MCFP) Director Nanci Gibbons and the extended interim service of Angela Holcombe, Megan Bierschwale stepped up to serve as Director in February 2025. The Mason County News spoke with Bierschwale, eight months into the role, about how things are going.

Bierschwale emphasized that her predecessors had done a stellar job of setting up maintaining systems to support the complex food distributions. She has not had to improve on their good work, “Nancy Gibbons, former director, did so much that is positive and created excellent processes for the menu and ordering. No need to change that.”

After having served as interim director for almost a year, Angela Holcombe remains in charge of home deliveries for individuals who are home bound, lack transportation or who would have difficulty managing the heavy boxes, “Angela Holcombe helped with transition and remains in charge of delivery, which includes around 40 households. We have an amazing delivery team, so consistent, they even get their own subs,” Bierschwale said.
