Johnson City defeated Thrall 41-18 at home last Friday to move to 3-2 on the season as it heads into the bye week.
Right from the beginning, Friday’s matchup had some of the more unusual action that football can bring. Thrall led 5-0 after a first quarter that was delayed due to multiple procedural interruptions before the game could officially begin, but Johnson City was firmly in the driver’s seat for the rest of the chaotic game. It ended in Johnson City’s favor and earned head coach Brent Kornegay his 150th career win in his long high school coaching career.
“I think we played really, really good in the second half,” Kornegay said. “You got to give our kids credit. They came back and fought and found a way to get it done.”
