Blanco Valley WMA Hosts Night Sky Presentation

Blanco Valley WMA Hosts Night Sky Presentation
The Wizard of the Night Sky, Bob Heinonen, with the BVWMA President James Robinson and his wife, vice president Nancy Robinson.

In keeping with goals of the Blanco Valley Wildlife Management Association to educate and encourage conservation practices among the more than 18-member small ranches and properties located primarily along Ranch Road 165 and Middle Creek Road (FM410), The Wizard Of The Night Sky (Bob Heinonen) gave a superb, animated presentation of the ways and policies for preserving the night sky.

BVWMA President James Robinson and his wife Nancy praised the many actions of the Blanco County Friends of the Night Sky, which have elevated the prestige and positive attention to the county for their leadership in preserving the precious night skies.

The large, eager to learn, group of members were hosted by Lenka and Larry Watters at their contemporary, environmentally friendly home surrounded by conservation responsive gardens and ponds that attract a wide variety of butterflies, dragon flies, birds and other wildlife. Heinonen’s presentation provoked vigorous discussion among members while enjoying a lovely meal. Principle among the discussion was the night sky friendly practices and devices to be used for residences and commercial establishments to curtail light pollution of the night sky.
