For the first time in years, Blanco County doesn’t have the lowest unemployment rate in the Rural Capital Area of Central Texas region.
Blanco County had the lowest unemployment rate in the region each of the first seven months of 2025. It also had the lowest unemployment rate in the region each month of 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Data wasn’t readily available for months prior to 2021.
The county’s unemployment rate went up half a percentage point in August, moving from 3.5 percent in July to 4 percent last month, according to Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area. The half-point increase was the second highest among all the counties in the nine-county region from July to August. The largest increase was in Llano County, which increased from 3.8 percent in July to 4.7 percent in August.
