Johnson City dropped a 49-35 road contest at Comfort last Friday to fall to 2-2 on the year.
The game started as a defensive battle, with neither team scoring early. Comfort broke through with the first touchdown of the game with 24 seconds left in the first quarter. From there, a duel between two strong offenses ballooned the score to 84 combined points. Johnson City broke out for three touchdowns in the fourth quarter as it mounted a strong comeback attempt, but came up short as Comfort rode its firstquarter outburst to a twoscore win.
“(We) played hard the whole game,” Johnson City coach Brent Kornegay said. “Didn’t quit to the very end, and that’s all you ask for.”
