Mason County is officially opposed to the proposed Bell County East-Big Hill transmission line project, as Commissioners approved a resolution against it at their Monday meeting.
After much public outcry, County Commissioners asked County Attorney Rebekah Whitworth to draft a resolution outlining the reasons Mason County residents are against having the transmission lines come through the county. Plans for the lines, proposed jointly by Oncor, the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA TSC), currently show three possible routes across the Texas Hill Country. In a detailed resolution, Attorney Whitworth cited multiple impactful issues that the transmission lines would cause. Among them:
-A minimum 200-foot-wide easement for the power line path
