Mason’s historic Odeon theater presents such a variety of entertainment, not to mention great popcorn, to our community. From Smurfs to inspiring documentaries on equine therapy to chamber music to the blues, there is something for everyone at our hometown theater.
Saturday night, September 6, the Odeon Preservation Society presented the third annual Hill Country Review. Featuring talented musicians from the hill country, the lineup included local artist Justin McFarland; Luke Johanson Kyle and Rachel Martin managed the production lights and sound.
The evening was special for many reasons, not least of which is that it didn’t feel "special." It felt like those of us in the audience had been invited into a low-key jam session where musicians shared original work ranging from hit songs to works in progress. No fanfare, no drums. Just guitars and vocals. As each artist took a turn at the mic, the selections varied from love songs to funny songs to blues.
