The Llano County Library System has regained its official accreditation from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission for fiscal year 2026, Library Director Amber Milum announced during the Llano County Commissioners Court meeting on Monday, September 8. The announcement was met with applause, marking a significant milestone during a turbulent period for the county’s library system.

Accreditation had lapsed in 2023 when the county did not reapply, breaking a 50-year streak. Commissioners moved to begin the reapplication process during their March 18 meeting.

To qualify again, the system was required to spend at least $472,000 in 2024-2025, which they met through system upgrades and $15,000 in new book purchases. For the coming fiscal year, which begins in October, the county has budgeted $758,200. Milum said the library will again need to meet the $472,000 threshold to remain accredited in the next cycle.
