It’s that time of year again—when the mornings and evenings start to feel a bit cooler, camo becomes an acceptable and expected daily uniform, and hunters descend onto the ranches and leases that span Llano County. Hunting season is upon us, which means it’s time for the 16th annual Wild Game Dinner.
On Saturday, September 13, at 6:00 p.m., the John L. Kuykendall Events Center (JLK) will open its doors for one of Llano’s most anticipated gatherings. The dinner has become a tradition as reliable as opening weekend itself—part feast, part fundraiser, and part reunion for a community that proudly claims the title of “Deer Capital of the Texas Hill Country.”
The menu will showcase the native and exotic game that draw hunters to Llano County such as grilled quail, smoky venison, rich elk, and even a few surprises like alligator, aoudad and oryx. It’s a menu that reminds everyone why the rural Texas way of life is so tightly bound to the outdoors.
