Llano County Judge Ron Cunningham announced Monday he will not seek a third term in the 2026 elections. Cunningham, first elected in 2019, made the announcement during the Llano County Commissioners Court meeting.

Cunningham said he looks forward to spending more time with his young grandson after more than 40 years in government service. His career began at age 19 in the U.S. Army and included five years with the San Angelo Police Department, 17.5 years as a Texas DPS Lieutenant, and 18 years in federal contracting with the Department of Homeland Security.

I've had a good run; we've done a lot of good things for Llano County.... we've got a great team that works together and that's not common in a lot of counties.... but family is everything," said Cunningham. “It’s been quite a career, and it’s been a lot of fun."
