A soggy Labor Day weekend put a damper on holiday plans across the Hill Country, with showers and thunderstorms rolling over Llano from Saturday through Monday. The National Weather Service reported roughly a half inch in and near the city by early Monday, with higher totals elsewhere in the county—0.62' at Kingsland, 0.45' near Sunrise Beach Village and 0.40' at Castell—enough to keep grounds wet and lightning in the area.

The weekend washout fit the broader Central Texas pattern: a stalled late-summer front juiced rain chances and kept temperatures cooler than average, with forecasters flagging multiple rounds of storms from Saturday into Labor Day.

Citing the storm chances and lightning risk, the City of Llano and Llano Police Department called off the holiday-weekend fireworks at Badu Park, a show that had already been pushed from the rained-out Fourth of July celebration.
