Johnson City defeated Burnet on Tuesday, August 26 before hosting a tournament the following weekend.
The Lady Eagles are showing some serious promise in the early stages of the championship-defending season. The gaps that opened after the departure of most of last year’s team have found players more than ready to fill them. Despite the bulk of the team consisting of five sophomores and four juniors, head coach Heather Wilson is overseeing a volleyball program playing with similar consistency that she has seen over the past several years.
“This group, although young on paper (and) inexperienced, their work ethic is what sets them apart from everybody else,” Wilson said. “They truly love each other. They truly want to play for each other and be dominant for each other.”
