Llano Independent School District has removed the book Crank by Ellen Hopkins, along with the entire “18 and over” section from the Llano High School library, according to a sworn affidavit from Superintendent Mac Edwards.
In the affidavit, Edwards confirmed that Crank “was removed from the District's library contents and will not be returned."
The actions follow ongoing challenges over content in the district’s libraries, most prominently led by resident Bonnie Wallace. Previous actions included the removal of Call Me by Your Name by Andre Aciman and the discontinuation of student participation in book review committees at Llano High School.
