After weeks of practice and scrimmages, Johnson City opens its 2025 football season this Friday in Granger.
The Eagles enter the new season following a 3-7 2024 campaign in which they posted a 1-4 district mark. Since the 2024 season finale against Harper, Johnson City saw several seniors graduate and there was a shakeup in its coaching staff. The new-look Eagles will be led by head coach Brent Kornegay as the team looks to build a successful 2025 season.
“We’re a really, really young football team,” Kornegay said. “We’re inexperienced at some things, but the kids are buying in and we’re getting where we need to be.”
