What are the most important transportation issues facing Horseshoe Bay? Over 70% of 353 survey respondents said traffic congestion was most important. That concern was clearly evident in the questions and comments expressed at the Aug. 13 Community Educational Series with TxDOT engineers hosted by the HSB POA (see related story above).
In the same survey just under 70% indicated that roadway safety was important. Other expressed concerns were pedestrian, golf cart, and bicycle mobility. These responses were an important part of formulating the HSB Transportation Plan (TP) updated on the city website in April of this year. The stated aim of the TP is to meet future traffic demands, guide development, and establish organized growth within the transportation network.
As the report states, a balanced TP will also seek to preserve the community’s character, including the environmental, scenic, aesthetic, historic and natural resources of the area, while providing safety and mobility. The TP also seeks to uphold the vision developed in Long Range Planning by improving forms of connectivity, including roads, bicycle routes, golf cart routes and pedestrian paths.
