Budget planning for the City of Blanco’s 2025-26 fiscal year is underway and fourth budget workshop is scheduled for Aug. 28.

The workshops are open to the public, and the proposed budget is currently available to review online at https:// www.cityofblancotx.gov/. The budget will be voted on at the next regular city council meeting in September.

City secretary Laurie Cassidy is stepping down to accept a position with the City of Fredericksburg. Her exemplary service to Blanco was remarked upon by nearly every person who addressed the council at the Aug. 12 meeting. Mayor Candy Cargill also gave a heartfelt speech and read letters from Senator Donna Campbell and Representative Ellen Troxclair thanking Cassidy for her work in Blanco. Cassidy addressed those in attendance and said, ”Thank you all so much. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every day of my job, working here, living here, serving the community, serving council, serving staff. I love every minute of it so it’s bittersweet leaving.” Cassidy will continue to live in Blanco.
