As of Monday, the Mason Independent School District (MISD) is fully staffed with teachers for the 2025-2026 school year, Superintendent Sean Leamon announced at Monday night’s special MISD board meeting. August 14 will be the first day of school for Mason students.
School properties sustained $210,000 in damages from the recent flooding event in Mason County, said Superintendent Leamon. The district is currently exploring the options of seeking insurance coverage or working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to complete repairs.
The new courtyard at the junior high is now 90 percent complete, the Superintendent said. A new basketball goal, pickleball nets and some landscaping are the only remaining projects to be completed.
