The historic Lantex Theater has a new leading man. George Fricke was announced as the theater’s new manager on July 27, stepping in to guide the beloved Llano landmark into its next chapter.

A familiar face to many in Llano’s arts scene, Fricke steps into the role with both a deep appreciation for the historic venue and fresh ideas for its future. He follows in the footsteps of Misty Carpenter, who oversaw theater operations from 2019-2022 and had returned after the passing of Amanda Trotter, a beloved community member who led the Lantex until late 2024.

Fricke shared his thoughts with The Focus about taking over one of Texas' last remaining single-screen theaters and his vision for its future as the Lantex approaches its 100th anniversary.
