The Castell Volunteer Fire Department is marking a major milestone this weekend: 50 years of serving the community. To celebrate, the department is inviting the public to its 50th Annual BBQ on Saturday, July 26, at the Castell Fire Hall, located at 19148 W Ranch Road 152.
The celebration will kick off at 6 p.m. with dinner, featuring homemade desserts, cold beer, and classic Texas BBQ. Live music by Dub Miller, Bill Tuckness, and Eric Schuessler will keep the crowd entertained, and a cake auction will offer sweet treats for a good cause. All donations from the event go directly to benefit the Castell VFD.
For five decades, the Castell VFD has stood as a volunteer-run operation dedicated to protecting residents, property, and wildland across western Llano County. Established in 1975, the department was created by local ranchers and citizens who recognized the need for emergency services in the remote community. Through fundraising, donations, and dedicated volunteerism, the department gradually grew to include trained personnel, upgraded trucks, and life-saving equipment.
