The Blanco County Commissioners improved the salary grade for dispatchers at their meeting Tuesday morning.
The commissioners moved dispatchers to salary grade 108, up from 104, on the county’s salary scale. The move went into effect immediately. There’s a dire need for additional dispatchers, said Blanco County Sheriff Don Jackson, and he hopes the bump in pay will help in that recruitment effort. He said he currently has eight dispatcher positions to fill.
“We’re farming out to Hill Country, which used to be Marble Falls Dispatch… and we’re having to pay jailers overtime to come in and work for us at night. It’s been extremely tough,” Jackson said.
