For many years, Lisa Petri has been a familiar face as she handled a variety of roles at the Blanco Independent School District. Now that she is officially retired after 23 years, what in the world is she going to do? Well, not too much has changed because she has been ticking items off her to-do list.
“I have to stay busy,” she said when she spoke with the News on Monday. “I’m getting started on all these projects that have been set aside forever. One of my first tasks has been to get my garden in order. I also have a small business, Tasty Crumbs Bakery, and I create and decorate sugar cookies. So, I’ve been working to get orders filled. I enjoy that a lot, it’s almost like therapy.”
Petri was hired with BISD as a paraprofessional in special education in August 2001, and her last day at work was June 12. She was named the district’s employee of the month in May. Through the years, Petri manned the office at the high school and middle school campuses as a secretary and registrar.
