The Mason Independent School District was one point away from being graded as an A school district for the 2022-23 school year, according to recently released accountability results, but leaders are spending more time looking ahead than at the past.
“We have some things to work on, and student growth is always an item we look at closely,” said MISD Superintendent Sean Leamon, who spoke with the News on Monday. Leamon has led the school district for just over a year since taking the helm in May of 2024. “We look at how students perform on a test in the previous year and measure the growth made during the next year. When we get that growth every year, we start closing the gaps and increasing the success of our students.”
The Texas Education Agency graded MISD at an 89, which is a B. Accountability results for the 2022-23 school year were released to the public in April after being blocked by litigation.
