The Llano High School 7-on-7 team came within a victory of winning its pool at the Burnet State Qualifying Tournament May 31.
But it was who made plays for the Yellow Jackets that left coaches and fans encouraged.
Llano beat Taylor 28-6 and crushed former rival Lago Vista 19-0 before losing to Little River Academy 26-18 in a contest that decided the pool winner. Academy lost to China Spring 33-27.
